Sir Alex Ferguson was a football coach who set an unprecedented record in Manchester United football club of England. He was appointed the club coach in 1986 after managing the Scotland National football team briefly during the 1986 world cup. Though Manchester United FC had been a well-known club before his arrival.
EARLY PERIOD WITH THE CLUB
He started with the players he met that year and after that season, he brought some set of players and added to the squad he met when he came. During this early period of his with the club, he signed several young players and nurtured them until they matured and became football stars well known worldwide.
MANAGING GREAT FOOTBALLERS
He was able to manage the likes of Eric Cantona David Beckham, Edwin Van Daar Saar, Wayne Rooney Cristiano Ronaldo, Andy Cole, Jaap Stamp, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Philip Neville, Oleg Gunnar Solksjaer, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs, Robbie Keane Ole Gunnar and to mention but a few. And he got the best out of these players.
HIS STINT WITH MANCHESTER UNITED
He spent more than 2 decades with Manchester United and set formidable records in winning laurels both in England (domestic league and Europe. During his time the knowledge of having a match with Manchester United sends a cold spine to football coaches and players of rival clubs. Sir Alex Ferguson was able to build a formidable team that challenged for hours every football season with his assistant coaches in English top-flight football and UEFA Champions League.
A MAN OF DISCIPLINE
While he was the coach of Manchester United, no simple player or group of players dictated for him the matches they want to play and the ones they won’t play. He axed some players during his time which brought their forceful moves to other clubs. And this never affected the club negatively but brought much improvement to the team’s overall performance. This really shows he was really the in-charge during his time at Manchester United.
In the year 2009, he won the treble with Manchester United, winning the Uefa champions league after coming from a goal down trailing till the 86th minute of the grand finale match with Bayern Munich of Germany and won the trophy by beating them by 2-1. He also won some other trophies, English Fa cup trophy, Carling Cup and Fifa Club World Cup.
He also had some individual awards Uefa Coach of the year 1998/1999 season and hosts of other football awards so numerous to mention.
Sir Alex Ferguson retired 8th May 2013 after spending 26 years with Manchester United and also setting the club at the peak of football competition both in the domestic league and Europe.
