MANCHESTER UNITED TO SALE MARTIAL FOR £54m TO NEWCASTLE

The Manchester United center-forward Anthony Martial has endured a difficult couple of seasons at Manchester United.

In the year 2015 he was signed from AS Monaco, Anthony Martial now 25-year-old has failed to live up to the hype that surrounded him when he was first brought to Old Trafford.

The center forward Anthony Martial started out his United career largely being used as a left-winger. More so, more recent years have seen him deployed as a centre-forward.

Furthermore, unfortunately for Martial, it has become fairly clear that the Frenchman is not cut out to be the main top number nine (9) at a top club.

In the year 2020/21, for example, saw Martial was used as Man United’s main striker for a good chunk of the campaign as Edinson Cavani had injury issues.

However, though he featured in 22 of the Red Devils’ 38 league ties before getting injured; he only scored four goals.

And Martial’s goal return has not been great so far this season either.

The Frenchman has made seven appearances across all competitions for Manchester United, scoring just one goal and providing no assists in the process.

ANTHONY MARTIAL IS NOW A NEWCASTLE TOP PRIORITY

As a result, it was not too surprising to see Euro Sport last month that Old Trafford officials have given Martial’s representatives the green light to look for a new club.

Now, as mentioned above, it appears that a potential suitor for Martial has emerged.

Reports had been made that Newcastle United’s recruitment team have already made contact over the possibility of signing Martial in January.

It is added Newcastle has made formal contact with Man United and the player’s representative.

They also claim the Red Devils are willing to allow Martial to depart and will demand as close to the £54m they originally paid for him, as possible.

But given his decline in form and potential, it does seem unlikely Manchester United will get anywhere close to that sum.
