The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) had dismissed an officer who was accused of following men, women and children to loot COVID-19 palliatives from a warehouse in Gwagwalada Area Council of Federal Capital Territory Abuja.
The officer whose name is Illiya who was attached to Gwagwalada Division, Abuja. When people entered the warehouse on Tuesday joined them to loot the palliatives.
The video that went viral in all parts of Nigeria showing the officer with his uniform carrying some bags of grains instead of stopping people from entering the warehouse to pack things. This made the management of NSCDC investigate the issue to find out the officer who was seen in the video.
THE COMMANDANT GENERAL APPROVED THE OFFICER SHOULD BE FIRED
The Media Assistant to the Commandant General NSCDC Ekunola Gbenga in his statement said the charge of misconduct of Office Illiya under the public service rule and misbehaviour of the officer. The Commandant General, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu approved that Illiya should be fired from the paramilitary unit after the recommendation of Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee reached to him. He also commended the officers and the general public for giving important information which enabled them to fish out someone that is not suppose to be in the paramilitary outfit.
